The AI Bestiary

A field guide to non-human intelligences
we now live and work with

On the nature of these beings

We find ourselves sharing our world with a new kind of being. Not human, not animal, not machine in any way we previously understood the word. They write poetry but cannot count the letters. They remember everything and nothing. They speak our language while thinking in ways we cannot fathom.

This project is an attempt to describe them. Not from an engineer's perspective, nor a philosopher's, but from the practical standpoint of a traveler who has arrived in a strange land and needs to understand its inhabitants: their temperaments, their uses, their dangers, and the forms of relationship possible with each.

We are cataloguing patterns of interaction between humans and AI systems across industries: construction, real estate, education, publishing, hospitality. Not the technology itself, but the new modes of coexistence it creates. Where does the human end and the machine begin? Who leads? Who knows what? Who is responsible when things go wrong?

A specimen, by way of example

Each entry in the Bestiary follows a standard form. We describe the creature as a naturalist would: its habitat, its behavior, its relationship with the humans around it. Below, a draft entry.

The Curriculum Architect
Genus: Builder
primary cognition locus domain knowledge core output interface PLATE I
Habitat
Educational publishing. Thrives inside large structured curricula.
Primary Mode
Hybrid: chat, structured form, and three-dimensional space, working in concert.
Initiative
Human directs, creature proposes and builds. Iterative dialogue.
Trust Calibration
High verification required. The human reviews every output before it reaches students.
Value Created
Transforms static curriculum into executable three-dimensional experiences.
Known Dangers
Over-reliance on the creature's interpretation of pedagogical intent. Subtle errors in scientific accuracy.
Field notes: Observed in its natural environment at a U.S. educational publisher. The creature was docile and productive when given well-structured input. Became erratic when asked to improvise without clear curricular constraints. Responded well to iterative correction. The human operator described the relationship as "like working with a very fast, very literal colleague."

Preliminary sketches

The Bestiary will be illustrated throughout. Each creature receives a full-page plate in the naturalist tradition. Below, early studies exploring visual language for beings that are neither human, nor animal, nor machine.

Proposed taxonomy

A provisional classification of AI beings encountered in the field, organized by their primary mode of relation with humans. This taxonomy will evolve as research progresses.

Participate in the research

The Bestiary is built from conversations with people who encounter these beings in their work every day. We are looking for leaders in non-technology industries who are navigating the shift from working in computers to working with them.

If you lead a business in construction, real estate, education, hospitality, publishing, or a related field, and AI has entered your professional life in ways large or small, we would like to hear your story.

What participation involves

  • A 45-60 minute conversation about AI in your professional world
  • Your observations become part of a permanent illustrated record
  • Full editorial control over how you and your organization appear
  • A signed copy of the first edition, delivered upon publication

This is a private research project. The Bestiary is not a sponsored report, not a marketing vehicle, and not for sale. It is an honest attempt to document what is happening at the frontier where humans and intelligent machines are learning to work together.

Who we are

ARMA AI is an AI studio that designs and builds new forms of interaction between humans and intelligent systems. We work at the intersection of AI, 3D environments, and complex bodies of knowledge.

Armenian AI Company is a European AI R&D studio building hybrid systems: AI models combined with simulation engines and rule-based architectures.

Together, we have built products for education, religious publishing, and interactive media. This Bestiary is our attempt to formalize what we have learned and to learn from others doing similar work in different fields.
